Cathy Garner, PhD, FSS, MiKT
Innovation Expert
Cathy has a background in international knowledge transfer, extensive experience of urban dynamics and regeneration, education and knowledge-based business development. In 2008 Cathy was appointed by the Secretary of State for Innovation, University and Skills to serve on the Strategic Advisory Board for Intellectual Property policy and in 2009, co-opted to join a Cabinet Office Innovators’ Council. Cathy established an international charity to address the health needs of the global poor; and established and ran the Research and Enterprise Office at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. She has acted as an advisor in Canada and Japan on intellectual property and knowledge exchange and has served as a non-executive director on numerous public and private sector Boards. She is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
Anne Dornan
Innovation Partnerships Manager
Anne has always worked at the interface between public and private sectors, matching commercial solutions to public service delivery problems and building strategic partnerships. Her roles have involved programme management, successful bid development and relationship management with a range of public sector organisations and companies including Siemens Business Services, United Utilities, 3M and Samsung.
Kate Pickering
Innovation Programme Manager
Kate started her career at the BBC and worked in television production and development for ten years before entering the world of productive creativity and innovation. Heading up the executive learning programme for ?What If!, the innovation company, Kate worked with some of the most progressive organisations in the world including Proctor & Gamble, Google, RedBull and EA Games. Kate’s role at M:KC is focused on developing workshops and events to promote collaboration for innovation that tackles the city-region’s big issues.
