Manchester is my Planet
“When you’re thirsty, it’s too late to dig a well.” Japanese proverb
Manchester is my Planet is a partnership of people and organisations from across Greater Manchester, working together to tackle climate change.
Since 2005, the programme’s inclusive, upbeat and positive message has brought together local authorities, universities, agencies, businesses and over 21,000 local people to help shape a low-carbon energy future for Greater Manchester.
Manchester is my Planet was formed in the wake of the Manchester: Green Energy Revolution (M:GER) study of 2005. Over 100 organisations were involved in co-creating the 3-year pilot programme.
Co-ordinated by Manchester: Knowledge Capital on behalf of the city region, the Manchester is my Planet programme initiated a wide number of innovative projects to build the understanding, skills and capacity to address the low-carbon challenge.
- Circle of Wind
- Green Business Park
- Greening the Town Halls
- ESCo Feasibility Study
- Northwest Climate Fund
- The Pledge Campaign
Since 2008, Manchester is my Planet programme has focused on delivering two projects co-funded by the European Union:
- Partnership Energy Planning
- Changing Behaviour
The Programme Update highlights how Manchester is my Planet continues to support the city-region
in delivering on its low-carbon vision.
