Five Questions with... Professor Konstantin Novoselov
Manchester’s Nobel Prize-winning physicist Professor Konstantin Novoselov answers five questions from the Innovation Manchester network…
You have worked on a groundbreaking innovation in physics – but who/what inspires you to innovate?
Innovation is a part of scientific work. Doing science means doing something nobody has ever done before – it is in heart of the innovations.
What do you feel has been the greatest innovation in science over the last century?
Impossible to choose one, especially as they are all interconnected – many great inventions crucially rely on the previous.
Why have you chosen to base yourself in Manchester?
There is a very friendly atmosphere at the department and at the University in general. Also Manchester graduates are all of fantastic quality. We had a number of great people over the last few years.
On a personal level, what is your favourite thing about Manchester?
Definitely the people.
Now that you have won the Nobel Prize, what is next?
Stay in Manchester, and try to do some projects outside graphene as well.
